Walk through #1 images

Images from the walk through #1 last thursday. Still lots to do...

Gimme some RoundUp

Water tank in place but not connected

Instantaneous gas hot water

Sigh... the front still needs an AG line and plenty of blue metal.
It looks so dirty and gross compared to the inside.

Photobucket
Laundry - a little dark

Photobucket
Downstairs bathroom (we wanted a vanity and shower as well as just a toilet)

Photobucket
Upstairs bathroom - the partial tiling gives it an unfinished look

Ensuite LHS

Ensuite RHS - no mirror yet because they delivered the wrong size

You can probably tell we went with a no-frills Monash, no rendering, absolute minimal tiles, plain concrete stairs.
Maybe later we'll tile the concrete - Mick and Kim's veranda images are so nice I'm very tempted! If only my stupid council didn't take such a harsh stance against garage-dominant facades we could've kept our veranda too instead of just a pokey old patio. : (

Walk through #1

Had the final walkthrough #1 today.
When I turned on the kitchen gas cook top and it all lit up I almost cried from joy. Too long have we suffered cooking on a dumpy little gas cooker on the cold windy balcony. Too long have we had to lug the blasted gas tank up and down the stairs for a refill at the petrol station.

The site supervisor explained to me what would have to happen at the front in terms of agricultural lines, blue metal, fill and retaining walls.
There's still so much to do!!!

  • Air con
  • Connecting up the water tank
  • Fixing up the flaws in painting - these painters didn't do a good job.
  • Some window barrier screws
  • Internal Cleaning
  • Termite protective piping
  • Fix-up of minor wall damage

There will be another walk through friday next week 20/08/10 and hopefully I'll get the key soon after that.

Took lots of pics but can't upload them until I get them back from my friend.

To ensure a smooth transition into your new home

I got a letter from my builder last week. It told me to make sure everything was ready for the final payment. To ring my site supervisor about arranging a site visit, and to get Home Building Insurance starting from practical completion.
So I called my Site Sup and he says to call back friday next week, when he'll have a better idea of when it'll be finished up for the key handover. But tentatively it'll be another 4 weeks.

Now I have to get serious about organising quotations for the floor coverings, blinds, side fence, driveway, front fence and redoing the pavement in front of the house (we swapped the garage to other side to maximise north facing living room views).

I wish I wasn't locked out, I don't know what my bathroom looks like! All I know is they've painted the front door (I don't like that colour anymore but we'll repaint it after we've moved in) and the electricity pole is in. There's still the air conditioning, the rest of the concrete stairs, water tank and the rest of the paint job.
