Another trady came at 7am this morning to fix the creaky floor. There was a screw loose against a metal beam, nothing structurally wrong, just really annoying in a high-traffic area at the foot of the stairs.
Rang up and gave the go-ahead to the guy doing our vertical blinds. He's doing the install on the morning we're moving, next friday. At least we'll have privacy on our first night Chez Ragtag.
10am the floor sanders came to sand down the particleboard panel edges which are flat enough for carpet but not for tiles or timber. They only did the entry and left lots of sawdust which I'll clean up later today. Now there's nothing stopping the installation of my natural stone tiles. Muahahah! My concrete floor is also not perfectly flat according to my tiler, but he says he'll compensate with the glue/grout.
The waste tiles are left in front of my garage. It's starting to look like it did during construction again, but I'm beyond caring now.
Lunch time a guy came to finish off the insulation in the roof. I also showed him some panels which had fallen down along the split level interior wall. He asked me why the building company hadn't done it before handover. I shrugged my shoulders and told him maybe because I was in a hurry due to a pending eviction notice.
Still need to decide on raw or pre-finished timber for the lounge room.

Scaffolding gone, the beginning of the end?
The tilers were there when we popped by yesterday, so we got to go inside.
The scaffolding is gone, now they can finish off the stairs, air con unit, water tank.

Roof tiles, internal linings and rain
Long time no post, sorry. I've been overseas for work and got back with lots of loose ends to tie up.
So the roof's been on since end of April. The wall linings went on over last weekend, and since then not much has happened. Site supervisor says 6 weeks left.
There's still so much to do after that like our difficult driveway which needs some fill brought in, redoing the pavement, ugh...
The weeds have shot up over the last few weeks to be a small jungle out the back. I shudder at the thought of hacking it all back, but at least it looks something like a house now.

I hate rain
Rain is the enemy. Evil Rain. I hate you. How dare you come down in buckets on my new laminate floor! It's not even April yet! I see puddles on my new floor and I want to drown my sorrows in that small lake formed in the dip down the road.
I'll post pictures when I get some dry ones. I refuse to post images of my poor wet floor. What happened to 'a sunburnt country'? What's wrong with raining one suburb across? Or better, go rain on Melbourne. They expect crap weather.
To think I used to love rain. How could you do this to me?? When it poured buckets in movies I'd think "If only we got rain like that! The catchment area'd fill up. Maybe they'd ease water restrictions next summer..."
I feel betrayed.
On a separate note, went to visit the tiling place for a tour of the choices, and I drooled over the stone mosaics and luxury ceramic. Too bad I'm broke, can't upgrade anything.
